 The People's Library

Meadowcreek is located in a deep valley west of Fox, Arkansas. While it is beautiful and engaging as a natural area, it is not easy to reach on a daily basis. Fox is a small community located on Arkansas Highway 263 that has a friendly community store, an outstanding school, a wonderful city park, and a post office.

The residents who call Fox home live on farms and acreages in the surrounding countryside so it appears that there isn't much to the town. In fact, it is a lively, supportive group of people who show up for various events, rally behind sports teams, and share a wide variety of interests and skills. For this reason, Meadowcreek wanted to contribute to the community by creating a library to serve as a resource for our neighbors.

The People’s Library is more than a collection of books. It is a gathering place for events such as book discussions, poetry readings, craft, and of course, music gatherings called “pickin’s.”  Patrons can view and rent the works of the artists who participate in Meadowcreek programs.  If library cardholders want books beyond our collections, we can order them through interlibrary loans.

The building is located across from the Fox Community Store and the post office.  It often serves as a meeting place for Meadowcreek events that benefit from a more accessible location. A good example of this is the food distribution of the Gathering Place programs.

The People’s Library remained closed through the first year of the Covid-19 pandemic. It is now open on a limited basis. Hopefully, we will be back to the full use of the facility in the near future.
